Moo.com Mini Business Cards

Moo.com is my new favorite site! There printing is on fabulous paper and very high quality. I knew I wanted to do something special for escort cards, but didn't want to just put people's names/tables on a business card and call it good.

So I found a fellow bride-to-be who ordered Moo.com mini business cards and had their engagement photos on the back of each card. The nice part of Moo.com is that you can have different photos on the back of your 100-pack. 1 photo to 100 different photos. So I decided that we'd personalize the photos and put each individual guest on the cards. We just went ahead and ordered photos of all the guests even if we knew they were or weren't coming. Saves us a headache in the future. (Although my fiance has just decided to invite a few more guests so they'll be receiving a generic photo of us on their escort card...sad).

How cute are these!?

44 Days...

Yikes - I've been so busy with work and trying to plan these wedding I've completely neglected finishing up some of the projects up here. Where do I even start?

1) Invitations were sent out middle of July - what a sigh of relief to have those out the doors. I've received many compliments on them and glad that I did them myself. I loved all the little details like the embossed address stamp on the back, the little ghost/skeleton Aspen leaves inside and the wax seal holding the invitation together.

2) Centerpieces were chopping down in late July. We're hoping to carve out the center to use as centerpieces. I'd love to put photos up if and when this actually gets done.

3) Programs are slowly, but surely getting there. I got the DIY covers from Minted - but I am not a fan. The programs are 4in wide and I wish they would've been closer to standard paper size. You make your program - print it out and cut it down the middle. They ask that you cut .75 from each side and then down the middle. I have had so many different sizes in that little program already. Not sure why, but I can't seem to get this one nailed down.

4) My To-Do list. It looks a lot like the last one a month and a half ago.
  • Flowers
  • Groomsmen Gifts
  • DJ
  • Altering my Dress
5) Cake is ordered! Many a weddings have been done in this valley and the one thing we've heard from a lot of people - "Don't waste your time at a bakery paying $1000+ for your cake. Order it from the grocery store." We've been to a few weddings and when we've asked where they got their delicious (and beautiful) cake - City Market. So I brought in a picture (shown below) and they said they can do it. Yes! And doesn't a raspberry/poppy seed cake sound divine?

So I'll post more photos as I get closer. Can't wait!

Share Your Photos...PLEASE!

I had won a PrintRunner.com giveaway for 250 business cards and while I don't have a use for 250 business cards I wanted to do something somewhat unique and make sure I get some of those great photos from our guests at the wedding. So I ordered "photo cards". I'm going to stick these in the thank-you notes after the wedding.

They match our invitations as well as several other items we've had printed. I know some couples hand them out or place them at the tables at the reception, but most of the people will glance at it when they first sit down and forget about them. We have enough so maybe we'll put a few out, but it's a good reminder once the fun has been had and for people to download the photos.

Best part with Shutterfly - they give you a custom email and the person just emails it to that email listed and it automatically uploads on the site. A win-win for everyone!

So what do you think?

Custom Aisle and Table Runners

I love anything custom for your wedding...anything! Especially these custom aisle and table runners that you could WIN from the Moments of Elegance Blog.

My fingers are crossed because I would love to have the Table Runner to put at our cake or dessert table since we aren't doing a head table.

Here's a few of my favorites and don't forgot to visit them here for your own chance to win.

My favorite!

Time to write a MOH speech...

My best friend is getting married this coming Saturday, June 9 and I finally decided to sit down and write it. This isn't the first time I've had to write a speech for her. Myself and another friend did it during our high school's homecoming when she was up for Homecoming Queen.

So I was going to play on that until I found this speech...how cute and perfect!?

So I think I may switch my speech around to encompass some of her "lucky" numbers. What do you think?

Addressing Envelopes...

Ok I've decided to just print my envelopes, but now I want you to help me pick which one. I like both, but not sure if the Post Office will have a preference vs. one over the other. The last thing I want is returned invitations because they didn't like the way it was typed out.

Thoughts?

Stamps on RSVP cards

So I stopped by the Post Office today to buy some postcard stamps for our RSVP cards. I haven't been picky on anything, but as she starts pulling out the postcard stamps and they look like the image below I had to be rude and ask for new ones. They didn't have any...so I paid extra for the Cherry Blossoms and even those I'm not too thrilled about. What happened to plain 'ol stamps?

I'm from South Dakota and now we're in Colorado so even the Washington DC Cherry Blossoms I'm not thrilled about. I'm just not in the mood to pay extra for custom stamps on Zazzle.com.

What did anyone else do? I really do think the one thing I'm being particular on is the least important...

4 Month Countdown...

Exactly 4 months until I become the Future Mrs. PL! :)

So excited and equally nervous as I still have LOTS to do! This weekend involved putting together all my invitations before realizing that I needed stamps with those RSVPs and surprise the post office is closed all weekend long and today, Monday, for Memorial Day. (HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SERVE OUR COUNTRY!) Luckily they weren't stuffed in the envelopes yet!

Up next is an outdoor sign for our wedding reception, which I'm almost done with and addressing the envelopes. I'm planning on printing them with the same front that I used on the invitations. I'm a little concerned printing rather than hand addressing them might be tacky....what do you think?

Happy Memorial Day!

My memorial weekend: yard work and one tired pup!

Invitations are coming...

Looks like I know what I'll be doing over Memorial Weekend...invitations! I'm so excited because my box of envelopes and pocket folds have been patiently sitting in the box waiting for the invitations. Here's what the final product will look like. My favorite part are the "ghost leaves" inside instead of a piece of tissue paper.

Closed with a wax seal with our initials and the only bad part about these invitations...$1.10/piece to mail them. When you do $100 that adds up quickly!

Also be sure to check out this great giveaway over at Before The I Do's:

How cute is this "Here Comes the Bride" sign...I personally like it much better than a ring pillow with fake rings.

Wedding Tree Guestbook

I knew I wanted the typical guestbook with our engagement photos, but also wanted something fun for us to display. I've always loved the wedding tree guestbooks and I've seen quite a few lately with Aspen trees.

Then I stumbled upon SayAnythingDesign and found more then what I was looking for! These Aspen tree guest books are 12in x 36in. Something different and great to hang in smaller places around the home.

For just $49 they shipped this print and 3 ink colors as well as your pen for signatures. I can't wait to get this framed and especially to see it all filled up after September 28!

First Dance Song...New Favorite Song

I don't know how I just heard this song the other week and it's my new favorite and seriously contemplating it for our first dance! What do you think?

Etsy...Invitations to Sell?

I love just playing around with Photoshop and Illustrator and coming up with designs. Did my own wedding invitations which I'll post a photo of shortly after they go out.

Anyone have experience selling on Etsy? I think I'd offer the pdf versions so buyers can take the images wherever they'd like to have them printed rather then waiting on someone to ship them.

Anyone else just starting out or doing something similar? Here's a few save the dates/invitations below...see any potential?

Feeling Lucky...

What a great weekend! First I went back home for my best friend's bridal shower and bachelorette party. So much fun and such a well needed break.

Secondly - I loved checking my emails because I won some fantastic stuff!

1) Custom State Print from EmbieOnline
What a great gift for someone getting married! Or in this case we decided to just keep it for ourselves and display it at the reception guestbook table. Adorable! Too bad Colorado is such a boring state shape. :)

2) DeLovely Details $75 gift card
I've searched for wedding hangers and have always wanted to buy my bridesmaids them, but didn't want any extra expenses since this wedding is adding up fast! Tada...DeLovely Details has hangers and if you order 3 or more they are just $10. It includes their name and a little heart underneath. I opted out of having our wedding date printed on them because in all reality - who wants our wedding date on all their stuff except us. This way the bridesmaids (and both my mom and my fiance's) can have these cute little hangers for anything. Order early though - 6 weeks to order.

3) Mr. and Mrs. Signs from Blushing Bride blog and From Kristen With Love
There were two giveaways for Mr. and Mrs. signs and I'm so thankful for getting at least one of them! I recently tried doing signs myself out in the yard...what a disaster. They are so much harder then they look. So I'm thrilled to have these signs and can't wait to get them!

So thank you giveaways - you're helping with some amazing items for the wedding!

Monogram Unity Candle

Where the heck do I find a monogram unity candle? I can certainly DIY and print it on vellum, but I LOVE my sister's candle. You can see it here:

It was the monogram etched into the candle and it's not your typical pillar candle - a little shorter and a little wider. I can't find one to save my life.

Suggestions?

Dance Lessons!

So excited he said Yes! To dance lessons...heehee.

We'll be learning the Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, and Cha-Cha. My fiance says tall guys should not be allowed to dance. He's 6'3. I think once he learns how to it'll be just fine. I don't want to have the groom not dance at his own wedding. Nor do I want our first dance to look like something out of a 6th grade dance.

I've always loved the YouTube videos of first dances starting out slow and breaking into a dance routine. I took dance lessons (ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop...you name it) growing up and the dance team in highs school so I'm not uncomfortable with dancing. These lessons will be a good for me too...I can whip out a dance routine to Britney Spears for you, but not a waltz!

Which leads me into another part of this whole first dance...what the heck is our song going to be? We have so many in mind: Tim McGraw's Put this Circus Down, Green River Ordinance's Dancing Shoes (I personally think it's a little too somber for a first dance "dance away our blues...") or the Give Into Me song from Country Song. Any ideas on something that hasn't been overplayed and overdone!

My Dad/Daughter dance I want to be Darius Rucker's "Won't Be Like This for Long"...makes me cry every time!! That's probably not a good thing...

So first dance? Not overdone...ideas?

Reception Site Photos

So it may be a little more country then I originally thought. :) Funny how things can change when it's not all done up. Lots of potential and to be honest even just having the chairs down and the tables covered will make it look fabulous. Not a whole lot you have to do or decorate. Any ideas on decor?

Invitations...

Invitation process is moving...really no turning back now is there? Heehee. Not sure how many times I went back and forth between buying invitations or DIY.
I LOVE letterpress, but not the price. I LOVE the ease of buying invitations at Micheal's and Hobby Lobby, but don't like how general they are. Nor do I really want to print them at home. I do not have a good rapport with those things and I can already see half the invitations being tossed because they came out crooked or with smeared ink.
So in comes Cards and Pockets and Paper and More. I ordered the pocket folds from Paper and More because the side pocket was a little bit wider and I didn't want the enclosures to be too stuffed in there. The mats were also ordered from Paper and More and even better - they cut your stack of paper for juts $5.

So next will come the printing this week from Cards and Pockets. And if you want another idea instead of the tissue paper or vellum for the liner in the invitations, my fiance's mother-in-law saw these on Save on Crafts. Ghost leaves. At first she suggested putting them on the tables and then mentioned the invitations. It's just a little something extra to make them look amazing!!
