Postcards

Ok I PROMISE I'm going to get better at this. I feel like I'm kind of in a lull as far as wedding planning so I don't have a whole lot to show or be inspired by.

But I have just won 100 postcards from Next Day Flyers. I use them all the time for work and it is so fast, convenient and super easy! So it's kind of fun that I can use them for personal use this time.

However, we just ordered sample prints from Cards and Pockets for our invitations and I LOVE them. I ordered the samples in Quartz where it's a shiny almost glittery print job and it's fantastic. They are so reasonable cost wise and I think they might even be the better deal when I fathom printing them at home, buying new ink, throwing away all the mess ups, etc.

With that being said I can't use the postcards for the reply cards since they are already done or save the dates. My only thought are thank yous (which I'd rather use with a wedding photo) and that they'd be too small to use as the programs. From there my thoughts are ________ (blank...absolutely blank).

Any ideas out there at all?

Invitations...DIY or Not

So now that the Save the Dates are out my next focus are those invitations and I can't make up my mind! Originally I was planning on DIY and made these as a mock up:

Then I thought I don't want to have to do them...and found this one on Minted.com:

And then I love the more classic, vintage looking ones from Minted too:

I can't make up my mind, but I think I'm leaning back to doing them myself. I recently read about someone who paid a load of $$ to have a few more reprinted and the last thing I'd want is to realize I didn't order enough, found something wrong, and have to reorder or go to plan B.

Any insights from other brides?

Checklist - one at a time...

Yikes - less than 9 months until the big day! We've gotten so much done, but we still have so much to do. One of the biggest accomplishments this MLK weekend - dress is ordered!! Woohoo....what a sigh of relief. I love the dress, but you can't help but wonder - did I make the right decision? :) Only time will tell...

My fiance's ring is ordered! Since we're getting married in an old mining town my fiance suggested talking to a local family that does other metal work like belt buckles, pendants, etc. Rings are not on their list, but luckily she said in this instance with him being a local she would. I can't wait to see it and it's so exciting to have something that's unique and definitely one of a kind. Mine is still on the "to do" list...

The big items left: FOOD! Why does that have to be the worst part of wedding planning - should be the opposite!

On the bright side the Save the Dates were sent out beginning of January...no turning back now!! :)

I'm Back...

Ok it has been FOREVER! New Years Resolutions besides the never ending eating well, working out more, etc. is getting better at this. With wedding planning for myself and as my friends MOH we'll see how well that goes. It's either more inspiration to get on here or less. Wish me luck!

Save the Dates finally got sent out last week. I was planning on having those sent out in the fall, but by the time we gathered all the addresses it seemed like a better plan to wait until most of those holiday cards were out and the post office back on a somewhat normal schedule.

So next on our list are the invitations, getting the ceremony flushed out, and FOOD! Caterers are just so CRAZY expensive out here! As much as I'd love to offer lunch or just some appetizers people are making there way out just for this so I feel the least I can do is feed them dinner. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of just simple bbq fare - the reception is in a lodge/cabin so the two can kind of go together.

And our engagement photos are scheduled for end of February. We've been having an unusually non-snowy year and if we waited until winter for our engagement photos I'd like some snow in them. :)

Lastly - GO BRONCOS! (I'm a Minnesota Vikings fan at heart, but living in Colorado and now marry a CO native I feel like I can definitely favorite 2 teams - especially if one is winning!)
